Heart health is a serious issue. Heart disease is a leading killer in our country. For many people, the first sign that a heart-related issue may be on the horizon is the onset of high blood pressure. According to the CDC, 33 percent of all adult Americans have high blood pressure. The CDC also says that while about 54 percent of people with high blood pressure have their condition under control, the remainder do not. High blood pressure was a contributing cause of death for 410,000 Americans in 2014, and it costs our country tens of billions of dollars each year in healthcare expenses.

The good news is that studies are beginning to show that CBD can be a safe and effective way to lower blood pressure with little to no side effects.

A 2017 study in JCI Insight—a journal published by The American Society for Clinical Investigation—titled “A single dose of cannabidiol reduces blood pressure in healthy volunteers in a randomized crossover study” took healthy male volunteers and gave them a 600mg dose of CBD—or a placebo—and monitored their cardiovascular function. Their overall resting blood pressure was then taken, and so was their blood pressure during “stress tests” designed to increase it. The researchers’ findings were as stated:
